About Us

Going Beyond Chiropractic Care For Your Best Wellness

We believe that chiropractic care is a foundation for your best health. And, by combining chiropractic care with massage therapy and nutritional counseling, you can take your health even farther.

We Truly Want to See You Thrive

Are you having a hard time finding relief? Have you tried everything but nothing’s working? That’s why we’re here. We believe that chiropractic care can help take your health to a level you’ve only dreamed of. We want to help you find relief first. Then, your body can heal thoroughly and soon you can feel your best again.

Diversified Technique

At Columbia Basin Chiropractic, we use an adjusting style commonly referred to as “Diversified.” First, an analysis of your spine is performed. This can initially involve a case history and X-ray pictures of your spine.

Subsequent visits may include motion palpation, with the chiropractor feeling the spinal joints move as you turn and bend. Or, a leg check may be performed, to uncover an imbalance in the neck or lower spine.

With the malposition of one or more spinal bones identified, a specific manual thrust is administered. The direction, speed, depth and angle that are used is the result of years of experience, practice and a thorough understanding of spinal mechanics.

The energy delivered during the thrust may produce a slight “popping” sound from the shifting of gas and fluids in the joint. This sound may be interesting, but is not a guide as to the value or effectiveness of the adjustment.

While improving spinal biomechanics can reduce nervous system interferences, virtually all joints of the body can be adjusted to help restore proper range of motion.

A Mechanic Of The Human Body

Coming from generations of mechanics, Dr. Eric Kurtz has always enjoyed using his hands to fix things. However, his love for mending is not for machines, but for the human body…

“I became very passionate about becoming a chiropractor after seeing how chiropractic care helped my mother live a happier, healthier life. From a young age I was inspired to help people maintain their health through a drugless, gentle method of healing. Just like my mom’s chiropractor helped her.”

Kennewick Chiropractor And Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner

Graduated from Life Chiropractic College West California, Dr. Kurtz is committed to help you heal thoroughly so you can get back to doing the things you love. Through chiropractic care, he works to gently realign your body so that you can function just as you were designed to. From here, you’ve got nowhere to go but up.

He also has an advanced degree in Sports Medicine, and is recognized as a Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner (CCSP), accredited by the American Chiropractic Association for sports injuries and physical fitness. “My passion is to help athletes heal when they need it, and perform at the best level possible. You’d be surprised at how much chiropractic care can do for your sports performance.”

Discovering the Perfect Career

Initially, Dr. Rick Folkman had an ambition to become an electrical engineer or a dentist.

“I really wanted a career that I was passionate about, where I could truly help people live a better life.”

So, after narrowing it down to dentistry, he began school. Then a few years in, he went out into his community to shadow other local dentists, and just didn’t feel that’s where his heart was.

“I went back to a childhood chiropractor to see if he loved his job, and he did (along with the other chiropractors in town).” So Dr. Folkman started seeing his chiropractor regularly and noticed that he just “felt better and functioned better than he thought possible.” “It was then that I was inspired to become a chiropractor, helping and healing people when no other methods could.”

Coming Out Even More Passionate After Chiropractic College

Dr. Folkman graduated from Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas, Texas. He loved the chiropractic philosophy and loved his experience undertaking the program.

“With all that I learned in Chiropractic College I was so excited to get back to Kennewick to help our community thrive!”
